Rich in historical allure and aristocratic refinement, this exceptional Charles X-era liquor cabinet combines ornate craftsmanship with noble provenance. Crafted in wood and brass marquetry, the case features a crowned monogram within a central cartouche, indicating its original ownership by a count, as suggested by the number of pearls depicted on the coronet. The cabinet opens on three sides, front and both lateral panels, and rests on four small bun feet. Inside, a gilded brass stand holds four cut crystal decanters and twelve matching liqueur glasses, each delicately etched and carefully housed within its own slot.
While sections of the original brass inlay were replaced with gilded painted trompe-l'œil detailing during an early restoration, the patina and textured surface enhance the character of the piece. The key is preserved, though the wood has shifted slightly over time, making the original lock somewhat temperamental.
Decorative yet fully functional, this piece makes a sophisticated impression on a sideboard, in a gentleman’s library, or as the centerpiece of a drinks cabinet. It embodies the intimate rituals of entertaining in the 19th century and tells a richly layered story through its materials, use, and heraldic detail.
